Esto Es Premium Malbec Mendoza Good With Beef

When we talk about wine, we talk about of one of the pleasures of life, we talk about the sensitive, we talk about love.

Because when we drink wine, (doesn't matter what kind of wine, red, white, rosé..etc) we enjoy that moment, dinner, lunch, with friends or family…we can feel the wine in the mouth…the flavor, the fruits, the body and we love it.

I remember last winter, I mean last months drinking, tasting and sharing conversations about it, sharing dinners and afternoons, lunchs and why not drinking until late at night… talking about wine, taking pictures of the bottle and loving that moments, between fireplaces, tables with cheese, cold meat, Patagonian stories, trips, pictures, laughing and seeing his blue eyes.

In that moment wine was love. But the time pass and he is not here anymore, he leave the country (with a lot of bottles of wine of course)

I am here. I am here with new stories, with a new bottle of wine. Waiting for his wine stories from the other side of the world. The wine for me is still love, as always. That never change.

As I said wine is one of the pleasures of life… I can't resist it.

Last week I found a fantastic malbec Gran Reserva from Mendoza…a new winery for me, a new pleasure to taste.

Finca L Eternitat, Gran Reserva Malbec Roble 2008…A-ma-zing!!!

French & American oak for 18 months. Colour: dark red, purple and brilliant. Red fruits of course, chocolate and mature fruit, marmalade and leather.

This wine is a precious jewel. Its special, I suggest drink it for dinner. Main course: sirloin steak (medium rare) plum chutney and a soft mashed sweet potatoes. Not dessert please.

Just take a glass of this wine, go outside (take a blanket) see the sky and drink it with a piece of bitter black chocolate.

The pleasure of gods.

I am waiting for this moment again. Maybe soon…why not?

Thanks for reading my blog, and you know I am here if you want to email me… (If I don't replay don´t worry maybe I am looking for another stories, another wine or travelling around the world tasting)

Have a good week!

As I said when I start my blog: I am a sommelier not a journalist, not a writer (I try to write.I swear)

Anyway. I try to write, but I try to drink at the same time! and Its so difficult…I tell you what:  I try. And I tell you a secret; in the last month I went to some wineries in Patagonia, restaurants and wine tastings.

Bodega Schroeder in Neuquén. One of the best place to go if you want to enjoy a lunch with the view of the vineyards, the best food ever and a lot of wine to discover.  I suggest Saurus Patagonia Select Malbec. You will love it.

I discovered Finca Intimayu (not from Patagonia…but doesn't matter, its a wine and I drunk it) this is a winery (bodega) from San Rafael Mendoza and I think this wine was made by God.

People say we can remember the wine because the characteristics but also because how you were in that moment, with someone or not, where were you, the mood or the company you enjoyed in that moment.

The wine remind us that afternoon with our friends drinking that chardonnay when we received that important news that changed our lives for ever, or when we drink Cabernet Sauvignon and think in our granddad making barbecue on Sundays… or we drink this merlot and we love it just because it´s his favourite wine. But also that special and expensive malbec we tasted and the fucking night we spend with …

I tell you what? Alfredo Roca malbec 2012 last weekend felt so good. Excellent Malbec.

I still remember it. So delicate. Subtle oak. Perfect equilibrium.

Bouquet; plum, plum marmalade, tobacco, vanilla, leather and red fruits.

Alfredo Roca Alfredo Roca1

Interesting body, not too tall, blond hair…eeehh sorry sorry, the body of the malbec?? Delicate, you just need to close your eyes and taste it, sweet tannins with soft texture …amazing.

Music; Jazz and raining out side. Sorry again…I can't  concentrate myself.

Alcohol 13.7 good acidity.

Is perfect with red meat, some «picada», or a hot onions soup in these cold days…Blue eyes…sorry sorry sorry stop. I should stop writing today I can't stop thinking in this Malbec 2012.

Thanks so much for reading my blog, have a great weekend but the most important, be happy ALWAYS.

A little bit of wine for us

Welcome to everyone who like me Love the wine. To those who love the life of the wine such a sophisticated talk about wine, overindulging in our favourite wine with friends and family and expanding our knowledge and most important of all enjoying a good glass of wine. I  am sommelier and I am also a woman (which can be difficult at times !! )

There is always is a good moment to share a glass of wine. ALWAYS.

The birth of a nephew. A friend returning from a trip. A promotion at work, a makeover. Divorce. A new book. Birthdays. The baptism of the daughter of my husband's brother in law. Or perhaps finally graduating after 11 years…! Weddings. Meeting my «baby»daughter´s first boyfriend. The opening of  the Polo Finals of course! Christmas and New Year´s …life is full of moments that are perfect for uncorking  a bottle of wine.

For that reason I decided to write and share this blog I called Winemmelier, a mix of Wine and Sommelier.

A GOOD START…

A friend came back from her trip from Salta and brought me a bottle of wine (she obviously knows me well). But oh! surprise..the name of the wine is Gata Flora (it means…person who is undecided, purposeless, like..nothing is good for you) and I thought what she is trying to say???

Anyway, it is a white fresh Torrontes, witch is the characteristic Argentinian grape that with our Malbec represent us in the world. This is a wine «for women» (but I would like to discuss this in another post when I will write about Myths) Nobody knows where, when and who told the white and rosé wine are for women (???) maybe because of the color (pink) or for the floral scent?. That is a subject we can talk about and talk about until late midnight without an answer, and worst ..we definitely will be drunk, cos the white wine, sweet, florals are divine but at the end everybody is sooo happy and nobody find the car keys in the hand bags. Ok, back to the subject!!!!

Gata Flora

Gata Flora is one of the wines I call A good start, a good start to understand wine, leave the diet soda in the fridge, start sharing and talking about wine. Its a good wine, easy to drink, fresh, intense and brilliant in the color. Natural sweetness and great with an Argentinianpicada, cheese, something informal.  Its a wine for drink with friends in these summer evenings, with some music, the kids in mother in law home (we love her!!!) and a fresh dress.  Perfect. Enjoy it..and thanks for reading my blog.I already love you !!!!

P.S.

Another reason to uncork a bottle of wine: When I am cooking its my company (Romi)

A SHIRAZ FROM AUSTRALIA

Australia 319

I was in Australia and visiting a lot of «bodegas» (wineries) and I found one of the best shiraz I have ever tasted, in a small village (in the middle of the nowhere). As we know Australia is a shiraz country, a grape from the old continent Shiraz Persia or the other version, from the south of France. Honey…in the wine´s world everything is from France..accept that.

Australia is a beautiful country, natural, with exotic animals, the beaches, the surfers..!.those guys with those bodies, blond hair and blue eyes…waves of the ocean hitting against their incredibles bodies, water running down their backs.!!! OMG!! Ahhhh. As I was saying its a beautiful country.

To be almost the same latitude has a climate similar to ours ( I said climate NOT mens). The shiraz grape has an intensive color and strong tannins, aromatic and very good with french oak.  If we taste a shiraz we can smell spices, red fruit, raspberries, figs and why not chocolate…Imagine all this things in a glass of wine, sitting out side in front of the vineyards with cheese and dry tomatoes with olive oil on a table in front of you…(and praying that a kangaroo would not attack me from behind)

Robert Stain 2

Ok the winery call Robert Stein, in Mudgee NSW and I tried 2002 Shiraz  reserve. I still remember it in nose and mouth.

Robert Stain1. Robert Stain1

Ladies, I suggest the shiraz with some light red meat, stews, pasta (not stuffed) like spaghetti and sauce, and why not with a pizza ? Try it , try to combine wine with the meals you like..and then we will discuss if we agree or not..enjoy the wine and life..always. And please go to Australia once in your life to taste the guys, I mean the wine, sorry.

North of Italy

CIMG5464

I know ladies you would like to know if I met an italian man, gentleman, If I fell in love and if he invited me to go to the Mediterranean sea for sail and then we had dinner in an extraordinary place looking the stars… NO, unfortunately I never met that guy and that never happened, maybe he was with his «mamma» preparing pasta or I was lost tasting cheese in every place I went…(but definitely I would love to, I mean to sail in the mediterranean sea in good company)

Tuscany, what a place!! I had luck to being there this year (you know I never stop) The landscape in a-ma-zing, absolutely exquisite. The mountains and the vineyards smell in the air that sensation…like I would like to be there the rest of my life.

A white wine from Tuscany. Remole Bianco from Frescobaldi family, clear and shine in color. Nose: fruity and with some fresh flowers. Good price and easy to drink. For us, women.

CIMG5748 CIMG5746

Being there I went to the north. In the northwest of the country, from the Lago di Garda (the biggest lake of Italy) to the Fruili, in the Verona city is the Veneto region where the Amarone its produced, a very particular wine and if you are in the area you must taste it.!

CIMG5777The name normally is Amarone della Valpolicella, cos is the same geographic region of Valpolicella, Amarone and Recioto production.

This Amarone in particular its made from grapes that they dry for few days to have more sugar and alcoholic concentration. Its not a sweet wine, is a dense wine, much color and body, lot of alcohol (16%) y is dry. I went to San Leone winery after a tour with the winemaker and sommelier  I found this wonderful Amarone. Cheers.!!

Thanks for reading my blog, I hope you have a great weekend, uncorking wine …

And if you are thinking in putting «like» on FBook, do it!!! I really appreciate it.

La Fracción wine, San Rafael Mendoza

I went to San Rafael Mendoza to visite some friends, and I met Malcolm and Sue Smith. A lovely British couple that some years ago moved to Argentina, they bought few hectares of land, and started with a dream of vineyards and their own wine…and they did it.! 2,5 hectares of vineyards around the beautiful house where they make wine tasting and tours. the wine is La Fraccion (www.lafraccion.com)

Excelent Malbec and Malbec Reserve (12 months is american and french oak barrels)  They felt in love with San Rafael, the landscape, the climate, and their vineyards. Is absolutely fantastic to see how they take care of the grapes, of the land, and how they love their job.

La Fraccion Malbec has a very interesting caracter. There is the typical berry fruit bouquet to the fore, vanilla, smoke tobacco and an exquisite chocolate flavor. A reserve wine you can save for few years more.  Argovino NY, gave it 89 points. Congratulations !!!!

botellasBoth Malbec are very good, specially if you are thinking in making an asado, red meat, sausages and enjoying a good dinner with your family.  Ideal to accompany stuffed pasta, wild meat, and why not a picada with friends…good cheese, salami and empanadas!! mmmmmm delicious. This is a wine that has been cared for from bud to bottle by the owners, with love.

I represent La Fraccion in Buenos Aires, so I you would like to taste it, just send me an email….   I will be more than happy to make a wine tasting for you.! Will be in vinotecas soon.

Ok, I wish you a very good 2014.  Love and peace, but real peace in your soul and in your heart. I hope we never stop dreaming, follow your dreams, your projects and be happy every single day.

A lot of wine for this 2014, cheers !

PS:   witch wine did you drink in Christmas and New Year eve?

Thanks for reading my blog, I hope you have a great weekend, uncorking wine …
